Use of Technology under Fasal Bima Yojana
The flagship scheme of the NDA govt. to provide effective crop insurance and crop security to the farmers of this nation is called the Fasal Bima Yojana (FBY). The scheme with its use of modern technology and scientific approach towards farming and crop maintenance is already been implemented in various parts of the country which is helping its beneficiaries and providing them both economic and social security.
Digitization of Crop Cutting Experiment (CCE) conducting agencies
The agencies which will be handed to conduct CCEs will be digitally audited and monitored by the central as well as state govt. Geo Coding technology will be used by those agencies to perform the CCE operations on crops. This will help to identify the exact latitudes and longitudes of that CCE spot. The CCE locations will be stamped with date and time of conducting the experiment as well as photographs will be taken.
Fasal Bima Yojana technologies to be used
The members from the Govt. who will visit the crop fields will use smart phones with internet and GPS connectivity to capture several data related to land and the crop growth. Also there will be a wide use of Remote Sensing technology in this scheme which will be used for the experiments on crop cutting. Apart from general insurance on crops, the farmers will be guided about the soil health of the land. Experts from the Department of agriculture will visit the farms regularly to collect the soil sample and test them in the laboratories and the test reports will be given to the farmers.
A single crop insurance web portal
To perform quick service and feasible implementation of the PM Fasal Bima scheme, a web portal has been launched by the Govt. The web link for the portal is: http://www.agri-insurance.gov.in/. This web portal can be used by farmers, bank officials, the Govt. and the agencies involved privately. The farmers will get features like Insurance Calculator, online application for crop insurance, etc. In addition to this, they will also get detailed report of the crop by selecting the location and crop type. The Government, bank and other companies will have to log in to the system to enter the database. The online portal will be very beneficial to keep all the database of the scheme intact in one single place. Also ease of work will be achieved.
