Post Harvest Losses under fasal bima yojana
The PM Fasal Bima Yojana has been launched considering the benefits of farmers and this one is going to replace the existing schemes known as National Agricultural Insurance Scheme. Indian agriculture is facing a really tough time due to the consecutive draughts and followed by the El-Nino and that ultimately led to the destruction of Rabi crops due to hailstorms. In such a backdrop, the new scheme Fasal Bima Yojana has been launched for helping the farmers with the risks and losses associated with weather conditions.
Features of PM Fasal Bima
- A lower premium in comparison to the existing insurance premiums and this is going to insure income of the farmer. There won’t be any limitation on the premium and the reduction of the insured sum. The settlement can be claimed through easy processes like GPS, smartphones and drones for accessing the crop damage.
- 25% of the claim shall be sent directly on the farmer’s account and there shall be an insurance company for the complete state. The scheme is going to provide full coverage for the post harvest loses.
For the post harvest loses:
There is a compulsory coverage that can be availed within a maximum period of 14 days starting from the harvesting of these crops which are kept in “cut and spread” condition for drying in the field after harvesting is done. This process is really beneficial for preventing against specific perils like cyclones, rains and draughts throughout the country.
Yield losses shall also be provided which comprises of the comprehensive loses due to the non preventable risks like natural fire, lightening, storm, hailstorm cyclone, flood, drought, dry spells and pests/diseases.
